Shopping can be a fulfilling part of your holiday experience
Our location close to the Lancashire border means that we are only a short distance from the East Lancashire mill towns. These are renowned for their excellent shopping outlets where designer products can be bought at bargain prices. In contrast, we also have a local cultural heritage of arts and crafts with many outlets and workshops situated across the Dales and the Ribble Valley. The Dales are also famous for Wensleydale Cheese; the creamery at Hawes is a must if you want to take home some of Wallace and Gromit’s favourite cheese.

At The Plough Inn we offer the best of both worlds - the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire’s Forest of Bowland
We are situated at the edge of the glorious Forest Of Bowland, which offers a wide range of unspoilt landscapes and visitor facilities. Try the Crook O Lune or Gisburn Forest for a family bike ride or visit the Bowland Visitor centre at Beacon Fell and explore its nature trails and the surrounding landscape. Take in Bowland's village cafes and farm shops, its countryside sites and wildlife, or the wide-open fells and footpaths… on bike, by foot or horse. Better still, take the bus…!
Visit www.forestofbowland.com and www.ribblevalley.gov.uk for lots of ideas for enjoyable days.
